Reproduction Chatelaine, functional sewing chatelaine tools, Victorian sewing brooch, steampunk lady's chatelaine pin, chatelaine accessory
A complete Victorian reproduction chatelaine in pewter and nickel. Charming filigree brooch has sewing tools suspended from it by silver plated chains: a small scissors in a pewter case decorated with a reproduction Jasmine pattern based on a Victorian original, and a magnifying glass on a long chain.
An actual antique key has been added to complete the brooch. This detail is not authentic to the Victorian era: believe it or not, generally women weren't allowed to have a key to their own homes. They were often not even allowed to go out unaccompanied by a man, except to be at the homes of friends, sewing. I added the key as a nod to those women and to say "times have changed". 😊
All tools are fully functional - the scissors are sharp! I use mine to snip beading cord and thread. The magnifying Lense is perfect for seeing those tiny details when doing sewing.
Total length at the longest part when worn is 14 - from the top of the brooch to the bottom of the antique key.
The scissors are 3" in length to give you an idea of scale.
If you would prefer like to add additional sewing tools to this pin, I do have a needle case and a thimble cage I could add, for an additional fee. They are listed in the variations.
Thimble Cage is shaped a little like an egg. It is held closed by gravity, and the thimble sits inside.
The Needle Case is a small, slim case with a friction cap. It holds perhaps 3-4 needles, depending on the thickness.
These are among the last chatelaines we will carry, as we are no longer able to get all the parts. The ones on the site are the last few we will make.
